Biography
- 2030- Born.. Well. Unthawed as a cloned embryo and set to biogenesis. Once taken out of suspension and put in an appropriate environment the embryo began to grow mostly as expected. Oddly, damaged aspects to the embryo’s DNA went under mutation even while being grown- fixing and evolving itself to survive the process of being in a test-tube. The embryo shifted from male to female sometime during this process. By the end of the year, the embryo had developed to the point of being able to survive- that of a formed infant. Throughout the process the fetus evolved and changed to ensure its survival in the biogen environment- a sure sign of an active X-Gene. Worthington Industries considers the clone a success.
- 2031-2040 Raquel Selena Munoz is adopted by well-to-do parents in the Chicagoland area. She is obviously a mutant, as such, her education is thought to best be taken care of by the local Institute branch in Chicago. Her parents desperately wanted a child, having been wholly effected by the disease that rendered most others infertile. They treat the young woman with love and respect, despite her differences and obvious mutation. Naturally intelligent, she is often tested by Worthington Industries scientists as she grows- all very interested in the evolutionary abilities she displays.
- 2040-2045: Raquel’s home life is fairly idyllic considering what others have to live with- her parents are well off, and treat her well. She has loving parents who’ve come to accept that their daughter is unique, even in a world of clones with mutant abilities. She’s highly intelligent, and seems to be able to survive anything- at least if the tests the doctors at Worthington Industries and the Institute were to be believed. Worthington Industries continues its checkups. She excels in academics, and due to her Institute education is among others like herself throughout her school life- helping to build her confidence and sense of self.
- 2045-2050: Secondary education continues, into university. Due to Raquel’s natural intellect she is able to enter and graduate with college level degrees in criminology, crisis management, criminal justice, and business. She is offered a job upon graduation with Worthington Industries in their ‘Crisis Management’ division. She has about a year of experience on the job by the time ‘play’ begins.
Aspects
High Concept:
Reactive Evolver
Raquel is in a constant state of evolutionary flux. She's constantly changing to meet the situation she's in. Her mutation is just that- reactive evolution.
Trouble:
Always Changing
Raquel has a certain amount of fear of her reactive abilities- if she's constantly changing, who is she? If her physical and mental self is in constant flux, how can she be sure that what she believes is what she's always believed? If she's all about survival, as she suspects, does that mean she'll be the last one standing? Of course, constant evolution could answer so many questions and solve so many human problems... she worries that if her usefulness is ever at an end that someone might see her more useful as a genetic test-subject.
Loyal Employee
Raquel is thankful for the jump-start in her life Worthington Industries supplied her. She is loyal to the company, and enjoys employment with them. She does want to protect the company and do what she can to help it succeed.
Obvious Mutant
Grey skin, white eyes, surprisingly tall and long of limb. Raquel doesn't look exactly human- there's just an oddity to her that puts some people on edge. Sometimes its a benefit, sometimes it isn't. She's easy to spot in a crowd due to her height, and her unique look tends to catch attention.
Corporate Fixer
'Crisis Management Professional' is just a fancy name for a Corporate Fixer. A fixer's work is protecting a company. Raquel's company is Worthington Industries. She does what is required to keep the company's image good, the secrets secret, and to find out what other companies are up-to . In this day and age it isn't a safe job- she's basically a corporate intelligence agent.
Skills
Power Suite One: Reactive Evolution
Raquel's body reactively evolves to allow efficient survival in any situation.
Power Breakdown
- Energy Absorption - May use Physique +2 to defend against energy based attacks and overcome energy based obstacles.
- Master Absorption - +2 Physique to defend against or overcome energy-based attacks and obstacles.
- Regeneration - Mild consequence clear at the end of a scene or when they start recovery. Other physical consequences downgrade one slot if available when they start recovery.
- Immortal - You cannot die as a result of being taken out in combat.
- Shape-Shifting - Create the advantage 'Creature Form' using Will. Most creatures are Fair (+2) opposition but especially large, small or complex forms may be more.
- Super Toughness - Armor:2 against any purely physical damage.
Special Effects
- Physical Recovery - You recover from all physical stress
- Mental Recovery - You recover from all mental stress
Drawbacks
- Reactive Evolution - Raquel's abilities only work re-actively to her situation for survival. - Raquel's powers are reactive- and results should be most efficient method for survival in any situation. No conscious control over this ability, and once a particular situation has passed the evolution may disappear if it does not further aide survival.
Power Suite Two: Super Intellect
The first evolutionary jump Raquel took was to be super-humanly intelligent. Intelligence always aids survival- as such, it is a permanent addition.
Power Breakdown
- Super Intelligence - +2 Will when solving puzzles, riddles and similar. Answer complicated mathematical problems instantly.
- Super Toughness - Armor:2 against any purely physical damage.
Special Effects
- Mental Recovery - You recover from all mental stress
- Extra Action - You can split your shifts between two different yet related actions adding a +1 to each action
Drawbacks
- The Big Picture - Ten, Twenty, Thirty steps ahead of everyone else. When you're that far ahead, sometimes you lack common sense. - Sometimes, Raquel has trouble making common sense decisions- she sees patterns in static, and recognizes patterns no one else can really see. It means that she sometimes misses the answer right in front of her, seeking a bigger picture when there isn't one.
Collateral Damage
- Pawn Interception - When an attack would hit you, you can have it instead strike a nameless NPC in your zone—they just happened to wander into the line of fire at the exact right moment. When this happens, you take no damage and the NPC is taken out.
